Singer must be a talented, high-energy individual with the stamina and lungs capable of covering classic rock staples from AC/DC to ZZ-Top for four straight hours without collapsing into a quivering heap. We do everything in the origional key which means if you can't or only think you can hit the Steve Perry or Robert Plant high notes, you probably can't and shouldn't waste your time. Would like someone with enough stage experience to avoid the "deer in the headlights" phase but we'll consider anyone (male or female) with a big enough head to think you can do it...if you're talented enough. We rehearse twice a week which means you would be required to rehearse twice a week also. We provide pro gear. sound system and practice space...you provide voice, energy, talent and enough intelligence to remember the lyrics so you don't have to repeat the same verse over and over because you forgot how the words went. We have a large set list which you will have to learn within about three days (joking of course, you'll get a week)...but there will be no pressure other than trying to fit in with four dysfunctional misfit musicians who have been playing together for the past two years. The scene here really sucks, but I'm hoping the influx of students will bring some much needed diversity and talent into the area. I'm the singer for a powerviolence band based in Cedar Rapids. We play raw hardcore with grindcore and sludge influences. Bands we steal from include Iron Lung, Bracewar, Swamp Thing, the Endless Blockade, and Eyehategod. We like to change things up a lot to keep it interesting, so we're looking for a drummer that can shift gears quickly. We don't need anything too fancy, so if you're fairly new to playing, that's fine. All you need to do is be able to keep up, and we'll take you. We have a practice space up in Cedar Rapids, but we'd be more than willing to meet down in Iowa City, too, if you have a place to jam. Our lead guitarist quit recently to pursue other musical interests so we not only lost a member we lost a practice space. I currently have a lot of material written and some rough recordings as well. What we are looking for is a lead guitarist, and bassist. We are aiming our sound at a mix of: American Melodic Heavy Metal ( Killswitch Engage, Mutiny Within, All That Remains, Shadows Fall, The Black Dahlia Murder, Woe Of Tyrants etc...) with European Melodic Death influence (Dark Tranquility, In Flames, At The Gates, Mors Principium Est, Disarmoria Mundi, Scar Symmetry, etc...) Some one with a place to jam would be nice as well, but there are other options such as renting time in a practice studio.
