07-28-10 - Phoenix, AZ>El Paso, TX - I/m currently seeking a female singer for what is at this point exclusively a recording project. I have a few songs created on my computer consisting of electronic drums/keyboards/and guitar only with others in the pipeline. Some of it has a clean/ethereal/guitar based feel to it while other stuff is electronic/dark/ambient/but ideally catchy. Most of it is too densely layered for me to nail live by myself so once I have a partner in crime in this project I/d like to expand it into a full-fledged live band. That won/t be for a little while though/ and not until I feel confident as a duo. If you play an instrument that will be a big plus in that department but not required by any means. What I/d like and what I/d like to avoid: - Experience working on other projects would obviously be a plus but if you can sing your ass off but haven/t been in a band I won/t say no. - I want someone who can write lyrics that are NOT run of the mill. I don/t have much tolerance for the emo scene/I'm not looking for any type of "female metal" vocals/ and I damn sure don/t want Ani Difranco in my band. Use your best judgment to see if you fit any of those categories. Which brings me to my next three points... - Please have a sense of humor! I come off as dark and cynical sometimes but I love to laugh/drink beers/etc. so please be passionate and have a lust for life! - Be able to work independently AS WELL AS collaboratively - I/ll want to practice and collaborate as much as possible on ideas but I have other projects and am usually a fulltime student so sometimes I/ll just need to throw you ideas and let you work on them solo. If and when more ladies and gents get recruited to make this thing go live the collaborative aspect will be important. But also... - Be able to take criticism, please! I hate nothing more than telling a fellow musician that an idea sucks/but if you/re trying something that doesn/t work I/m going to tell you so. Please do not be flaky/overly dramatic to the point of theatricality [a hard thing to judge but I/ll try my best]/possessing of one or more drinking and/or drug problems/or just generally not able to commit to working on this. My music is important to me. I/m not in a rush to get into this with the wrong person so I/m just going to be talking to some people for now and we will see what develops. 07-28-10 - Phoenix, AZ>El Paso, TX - Hey so I play guitar and sing in an indie rock/rock/folk rock band called Overcast Off. We have mostly been a 3 piece, but we recently played a show at Club Congress with a 2nd guitarist, and I liked the dynamic that that added to the band. That guitarist is moving away, though, and I was just interested in seeing if there were any likeminded musicians out there who'd be interested in atleast jamming with me and then going from there. We're young, please be from 21-24, and be serious. And if you are not interested in or listened to any of these acts: Neil Young, Television, Neutral Milk Hotel, Vampire Weekend, Destroyer, Pavement, Joy Division, Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Talking Heads etc it probably won't be a great fit.
